Stages

Stages are defined phases inside a race when the format breaks the event into sequential or distinct parts.

A stage is a defined phase within a race.

When a race uses stages, each stage may carry its own timing, targets, or gates; together they make up the full mechanic the athlete must satisfy. What counts as a stage, and how stages chain, is always published with the race—typically in the race brief.

Not every race is multi-stage. If no stages are described, treat the race window as a single competitive block under one mechanic.
