Downgrade Rules

Career level may move down for enforcement, inactivity, or structural review; historical achievements remain visible per Appendix A.6.

Downgrade lowers your career level index when rules require it. It is distinct from declined verification on a single run or from division band movement in the League.

Triggers (principle)

  • Defense failure—falling below the maintenance requirements for your current level after you already earned it (Level calculation).
  • Enforcement outcomes (Penalties, DQ, integrity findings) that include level adjustment.
  • Structural rules for sustained inactivity or metric collapse published for the league (see Accuracy / Discipline when tied to policy).
  • Administrative correction when data or governance shows a level was awarded in error.

What downgrade is not

  • A dispute over one race placement—use Appeals for that race where open.
  • Automatic division reassignment unless the division algorithm says so; division and level are separate levers (Division structure).

History

Downgrades do not wipe older achievements from the record; they change current standing and what gates apply going forward (Appendix A (A.6)).
