Race Lifecycle Overview

Canonical ordered flow from publication through Results out, plus how activity, publication, submission, and verification line up.

This page is the single map for how a race moves through time in URX. Detailed articles in Part IV expand each phase; Structural states defines the official state names (Upcoming, Live, Under review, Results out).

End-to-end sequence

  1. Publication — The race exists on the calendar inside a season (Race publication).
  2. Entry period — Athletes may register where eligible (Entry period).
  3. Live / race window — The mechanic’s window runs; submissions are accepted (Race window, Submission phase).
  4. Under review — Window closed; verification finishes (Verification phase, Provisional leaderboard).
  5. Results outOfficial standings publish; appeals for that race close (Race finalization, Official standings).

Activity, publication, submission, verification, result

These are different layers—do not collapse them:

LayerMeaning
ActivityA real-world training session (tracker data, time on feet).
PublicationAttaching an eligible session to a race in the product; mechanic rules and floors apply here—mismatches block publication, not automatically DQ (Race mechanics).
SubmissionThe published attempt as it enters verification (automation / manual review).
VerificationWhether the submission is Verified, rejected, or held under policy (Verification & enforcement).
ResultVerified submissions counted toward provisional then official standings; official result is fixed at Results out for appeals purposes.

Discipline and similar progression clocks generally use publication timestamps where the Rulebook says so (Discipline metric). Verification timing governs when a row counts as Verified. Mechanics define what activity shapes are eligible to be published to this race.

  • Structural states (race and season enums)
  • Race mechanics (format, blocking at publication)
  • Verified performance (evidence and verification overview)
  • Appeals process (only before Results out)
