23 April lands with 23 of 91 season days used — still early, but no longer the opening phase. The day’s 151.6 km go mostly into Nairobi, where eighteen athletes put in eighteen sessions. Barrel 100 adds another 78.3 km from ten athletes, and Mistake moves through a single controlled run.
Nairobi is no longer background mileage. Vladislav Kokorin adds 12.97 km at around 5:50 min/km, pushing his open-distance total to 223.24 km — the leading men’s mark in the provisional standings. Elizaveta Troshkova posts 13.93 km at 6:08 min/km, the top women’s line of the day, as part of a 188.24 km Nairobi stack. Maxim Danilov tops the daily chart at 14.3 km around 5:15 min/km, extending his men’s cumulative to 48.75 km and holding sixth place by distance. For athletes already in triple-digit totals, every mid-teens day either builds separation or lets someone else close the gap.
In Barrel 100, ten athletes produce 78.3 km and the front of the men’s race is already dense: six finishers past the 100 km line, with Zhargal Bazarov leading at 111.52 km. The day’s contributions are spread across the field — Dmitry Chyorny and Kira carry the heavier single-session work — but the notable move is Vladislav Kokorin crossing the line at 100.34 km, joining the group where any additional session can shift positions by small margins. On the women’s side, Elizaveta Troshkova sits on 108.73 km in Barrel and pairs that with four overall wins in her career record. Her 13.93 km in Nairobi and overshoot in Barrel on the same day illustrate how April’s hundred and the quarter-long open race are being run in parallel rather than in sequence.
Mistake is quieter. Aleksandr Rahmetov puts in 10.41 km at 6:47 min/km — a full mid-teens session inside the 5:40–6:50 min/km corridor — and sits at 30.79 km overall while Ilya Muzurov leads the men’s standings at 43.72 km with eight days of the window gone. The cost per kilometre in Mistake is high: every session has to stay inside the band, which makes it difficult to treat as a secondary race while Nairobi and Barrel are still live.
The through-line across all three races is the same cluster of names. Kokorin, Troshkova, Muzurov, Rahmetov, and Bazarov each appear on more than one board and are using 23 April to hold or extend positions rather than close any window. With more than two months left in Season 262, those choices are already shaping how the long races will read in June.
