Business Run

Open: there is no prescribed total to close. Scoring follows the mechanic — maximum total distance published inside the window among valid results, subject to verification and any minimum pace floor stated in the published brief (detail in the Rulebook).

Clock (UTC). The live window runs UTC, from 00:00 on 1 August through 23:59 on 21 August. Only activity published to Business Run inside that span counts; how the distance builds is up to the entrant.

After the window. 21 August closes the live phase; official standings follow later. A gap of a few days before Results out is normal; heavier verification can extend that. Provisional order can move until the race is Results out — see the Rulebook for Under review → Results out.

Why this race. A Special start for people who already treat running as part of a working life — not a corporate slogan, just an open ledger where volume is the only argument.

Discipline without a printed cap: three weeks of optional work that still has to verify, still has to respect the floor if one applies, and still competes on who actually logged the most. Easy to picture as “just keep running”; harder to execute as a coherent plan across twenty-one days without burning out or drifting into noise.

The length is shorter than a city quarter-race — less room to recover focus if you lose it early.

• Steady accumulation vs uneven surges — Small, regular slices of distance vs periodic blocks; the window rewards whichever pattern life and proof can sustain.

• Front-half vs back-half emphasis — Bank kilometres while motivation is high, or leave the bulk for the final stretch; each trades fatigue risk against standing risk.

• Enter early vs enter late — Mid-window entry is allowed, but Open still rewards time on the board; starting late leaves fewer calendar days to answer leaders.

• Commit vs stay out — An open commitment with proof, or no line on this race at all.

Business Run draws a short, sharp line on the leaderboard: who owned the open August window on total verified distance. It settles when 21 August closes UTC and the totals freeze at Results out.

Until then, provisional distance can still move — and with only three weeks, daily gaps compound fast.
