Season 262. Day 32

Day 32 of Season 262, covering 1 May, opens with a reconfigured calendar. Barrel 100 is closed. Two virtual races open in its place: Historic 1945, a single-run 9 km fixed race with a ten-day window, and Streets, a 50 km multirun running through the end of May. Twenty-eight verified runs produce 195.1 km, with Nairobi still the backbone at 106.2 km, but the day’s shape is defined as much by what opened as by what closed.

The immediate responders are Ilya Muzurov and the first wave into Streets. Muzurov — who finished April carrying Nairobi, Mistake, and Barrel 100 simultaneously — moves straight into Streets on day one with 12.4 km at 6:16 min/km. It is a characteristic early commitment from an athlete who has been among the most active multi-race participants of the season. Streets runs to May 31, so this session is an opening statement rather than a finishing push, but it shows exactly how Muzurov manages the calendar: no gap between formats.

Historic 1945 draws four athletes on its opening day. The race requires a single verified run of at least 9 km, and it closes on 10 May — a tight ten-day window that gives it an urgency that Streets does not share. Aleksandr Rahmetov opens with 10.5 km at 5:34 min/km, Anton Popov with 10.0 km at 6:38 min/km. Elena Myazina, who spent April splitting Nairobi, Mistake, and Barrel, immediately extends her season’s multi-format pattern: 9.4 km at 6:24 min/km in Historic 1945 on its first day. Myazina is now active in at least three concurrent formats.

Nairobi on 1 May is steady rather than spectacular. Aleksey Sherihov leads the day with 15.1 km at 6:05 min/km, building his cumulative Nairobi total toward 191 km — fourth among men in the standings. Dmitriy Spichak adds 15.0 km at 5:24 min/km, a mid-range pace that places him in the top third of the men’s table by speed. Ilya Pavlov contributes 13.1 km at 6:25 min/km, continuing a consistent pattern of 10–13 km Nairobi blocks that has kept him in the top-5 by distance. None of these sessions reorder the standings, but collectively they maintain the pace of open-distance accumulation that will eventually determine where the men’s table settles by late June.

Mistake receives just one session on May 1: 7.0 km from Rustem at 5:56 min/km, corridor-legal and incremental. Mistake still has nine days remaining and two women — Pochekutova at 95% and Svetlana Serebryannikova at 93% — within a single controlled session of the 50 km target. The men’s side is less resolved: Homyakov at 68% and Surganov at 67% still need roughly 16 km each inside the pace band.

May 1 reads less as a transition day than as a redistribution. The energy that spent April in Barrel 100 has nowhere obvious to go except deeper into the existing stack — Nairobi, Mistake — and the two new formats that opened this morning. Season 262 is a month old and is now carrying more simultaneous races, not fewer.
